That was one of the projects that stays with you forever. When you applied here, you probably didn’t think that this place and these people would steal your heart. But it is impossible to do otherwise in Antaliepte.

The Youth Exchange “Be the Change” was meant to be a project about CO2 consumption and raising awareness about nature. Despite that initial intention, it became a real catalyst for change for its participants. Youth from Ukraine, Italy, and Lithuania gathered to conduct workshops about recycling and ecological issues, plant trees in a monastery’s territory, and at the end become one big family.

The host organization «Ino Slenis» made us feel welcome and warm even in the changeable April Lithuanian weather. The workshops were structured in a creative way, so we discussed environmental issues in an improvised court, learned the basics of landscape design, calculated the amount of CO2 we produced, went birdwatching in the nearby forest, and participated in many other activities.

The intercultural evenings became real sparkles of the exchange. We visited delicious Italian restaurant, played hyperactive Lithuanian songs and dances, and had a true Ukrainian experience full of activities, food, and divinations.
